What a darling figural baby rattle featuring a hatching chick in an egg! This early Viscoloid (USA) Company rattle is made entirely of celluloid including the twisted handle. Circa 1910-30s. It measures 7 1/2 inches long. Well molded and detailed. Its mark is almost concealed by the feather molding.
The rattle is in very good condition with a nice sound. It has age appropriate soil and paint wear from prior use. Could be cleaned if desired. There is separation to the front seam. This isn't a crack, just not glued together tightly. The seam is pretty tight so it is hard to detect. Other then this there are no cracks or repairs to the rattle. Needless to say it doesn't take away from this rare, early rattle which would make a great addition to any collection or baby doll display.
