I am delighted to offer you this astounding, and rare example of a 4" fitter gas lamp shade dating to 1902 which features a fabulous decoration of Rampant Lions in a background of fish scales. The lamp shade has a patent date around the rim which is hard to read on this example, but from one or two other examples I've located with the fish scale pattern I was able to determine that it was patented in 1902. The fish scale pattern by itself is extremely rare, and I have been unable to locate any other Rampant Lion pieces. I believe this to be an exquisite piece to add to any collection.
The shade has a ruffled, octagan flared rim with scalloped edge. The widest part of the shade is 7 3/4" in diameter. The narrow end of the shade is 4" on the outer rim and 3 1/8" on the inside of the rim. The shade is 4 1/2" in height.
In excellent condition this piece has some minor nicks and roughness around the fitter end, but no other chips, nicks or cracks at all. There is one spot with a few bubbles in the glass but that is normal for pressed glass of this era.
