Produced circa 1880 this beautiful, American made art glass bowl with crimped rim is clear glass which has been overlaid with fine threaded green/yellow glass. They are often seen with an under plate but this one comes to you as a single bowl.
The bowl measures 5" in diameter and 2 1/2" in height. Similar pieces are shown in Barlow/Kaiser Volume 4, p. 273. English companies were also known to produce bowls like these. As British glass artists emigrated to the East Coast of America there was quite a bit of cross over in design.
The bowl is in good condition. No major chips and no cracks. The threading does have some minor nicks on it in places. The center of the base has a polished smooth pontil mark. There is no sign of a British RD mark which is why I believe this piece is more likely of American origin.
