This wonderful, vintage painting dates to the 1940s and features a Canadian couple with smiling eyes.
Every time I catch a glimpse of this charming image my mind wanders, creating a life, a family and a home around the happy couple. I like to think that the gentleman had returned safe and sound from World War II and the portrait was painted in celebration, to hang for the rest of their happy lives above a mantelpiece in their living room.
The portrait appears to be an original painting, and the details are well executed. It sits within a gold colored wooden frame with an elegant design and a concave, bubble style glass.
In very good condition the frame shows very little signs of wear. The painting itself appears to have some light crackling over portions of it, primarily over the ladies dress. This is fine and clean, it does not detract from the image and is unnoticeable unless one looks very closely. The frame measures 16 1/2" wide and 12 1/2" in height.
