Vintage Clutch Purse Pina Cloth Embroidered Rare
Pina Cloth is produced from the fibers of the Pineapple plant and is often used in the Philippines. Each strand of Pina fiber is hand scraped and knotted to form a long thread to be woven into cloth. Some times it's combined with silk.
This vintage clutch purse has a base purse shape covered in a plain fabric which has then been covered with the thin pina cloth and embroidered on the front, the back and the flap. It has a small handle of braided cloth and a snap closure on the front to hold the flap closed.
This piece is in good condition. It's a little browned from age, I'm not sure if this is normal or damage as I am not familiar with purses of Pina cloth. It has light wear from age but I see no rips or tears. The piece underneath the pina cloth sits a little out of shape at the bottom where it's been stored flat. It measures 7" wide and 5" tall.
