This stunning and large piece of Erickson art glass is similar in shape to those I've seen called Pipe Bowls, but it is much larger. The pipe bowls are 8" in diameter whereas this piece is about 14 1/2" so it's either a large pipe bowl, or it's a serving tray. Whatever it's original intention it would make a great serving piece or decorative piece in your home.
This piece has a large, shallow, smoke glass bowl with a central solid crystal orb, studded with controlled bubbles.
Erickson glass was produced between 1943 and 1961, a truly transitional phase in style and design. The Erickson brothers were at the forefront of the Mid Century movement.
This piece is in very good condition. It has no chips, nicks or cracks at all. It does have some scratches on the underside from shelf wear.
