This rare and beautiful copper luster historical bowl is 9 3/4" tall by 8 1/4" wide and 2" deep. There are two hand painted figures in the center of the bowl one of which appears to be a Greek or Roman soldier with a shield and sword. The other figure has a bow in one hand and arrow in the other. In the background there are two pyramids. Underneath there is a crest with a spear and scepter and ax. The outside border is a Greek key pattern and the overall shape is a shell. The picture of the bottom of the bowl shows a very old staple repair. This always amazes me to see how old craftsmen did such excellent repairs with staples. When you tap on the bowl it sounds as solid as if it was never damaged. One of the nicest pieces of copper luster I have ever seen. There is no makers mark on the back, but it is probably English, circa mid 1800's. Copper luster with hand painted decoration or historical figures is the rarest and most valuable you can find.
