A gorgeous brooch depicting a butterfly is set with 206 Emeralds and Diamonds totaling 4.25 carats. It is further detailed with 2 small Blue Sapphire cabochon eyes and set in a hand crafted 14 Karat gold and silver mount.
These beauties were originally of the Art Nouveau period but this piece dates a little later than that. The butterfly is a very wearable 2.50 wide x 2.00 inches high weighing in at 16.50 grams by scale.
CONDITION: In overall fine vintage condition with no losses or repairs to note. There is a small dint on the reverse near the bottom of the gold body which is not visible to the front. Gemstones: Emeralds/Beryls - 3 oval cut totaling 1.41 carats, 14 smaller rounds totaling .74 carat. Diamonds - 189 Round, bead set totaling 2.10 carats. Blue Sapphire Eyes - 2 small Round, collet set. Emeralds are also collet set in gold. Diamonds are bead set in silver. Sturdy broaching assembly with a locking tube closure. Origin is unknown. Weight by scale: 16.4 grams. Beautifully hand crafted with mill grain and patina detailing.
