A quite rare sterling silver ring box with double slots for his and hers - or hers and hers! I've not come across this particular model before. It's fashioned after a piece of roll top furniture or one of those early 20th century cash registers. Quite fun!
The shape is the thing, but its' also nicely detailed (though not photogenic.) Unusual inside as well - with the ring slots placed in a half moon rise base. Purple velvet upholstered. The interior top of the box is lined in a cream colored fabric and imprinted with the name MURRAY O'SHEA, a Montreal Jeweler from the mid 20's until about the mid century. A very nice collector's box.
Standing on a self-base, it measures 1 3/4 X 1 7/8 and stands 1 1/8 inch at its' highest.
CONDITION: The box will leave in the morning to have the jeweler buff it, but aside from that the exterior is in very good near antique condition. The interior lid does have some stains (could be water or glue staining) but could be easily re-lined. Marked Sterling on the bottom step of the base at the front. Underside is velvet. 2nd quarter 20th century, Canadian.
Our sterling ring boxes are beautifully presented in velvet and satin pouches and are shipped at no charge to our clients.
