The Pilot, with its' multiple bezels allowing a range of measurements to be taken - and the external bi-directional bezel with the tachymetre scale for speed to be calculated while the internal bezels are a circular slide rule to measure a range of calculations made this complicated timepiece a niche part of the 'Specialist' range of watches from its' launch in 1980 until it was phased out in 2003. This Pilot is also a true Heuer model, having been developed well before the sale of the company in 1982. While the model continued to be offered after that sale, and the logo changed to Tag Heuer - there were also several design modifications to the Tag Heuer model.
