This lovely Amethyst Lavaliere is set in 9 carat yellow and red gold and dates to the start of the 20th century. It is elongated, simple and refined.
This pendant is beautifully long at 40mm and 15mm at the widest. It combines both the free flow of jewels from earlier in the period with carefully detailed tendrils - and finished in raised gold grains. The piece also gives us a peak at the soon to be introduced Art Deco jewelry in the incorporation of the hard edged 5mm (approx .75 carat) square cut Amethyst, still floating but now carefully contained within the circle. Less ornate than some of the earlier piece and easily wearable today.
CONDITION: In overall fine antique condition with no damage, losses or repairs to note. Tiny half sawn Pearl is original - as is the square cut Amethyst. Typically unmarked, this hand mixed gold tests to 9-10 carat variably. The piece came to us without a chain but at this writing we do have a couple of period chains. Let us know which length will suit you and if we can accommodate you we will include one. (We've photographed it on a 14 inch chain.) Circa 1900-1910. Origin is unknown.
Our fine gold jewelry is always beautifully presented and shipped at no charge to our clients.
The combination of two colors of gold are especially well suited to this piece. Flattering on the neckline - quietly begging for a second look!
