A beautiful little Pin (often called a Collar Button) is comprised of a cluster of larger faceted Garnets surrounded by 36 smaller Garnets - all in a total of 3/4 of an inch!
The center Garnet is largest and is set in a 9 carat gold crimped and clawed collet sitting 5-6mm high while the smaller stones recede in height to sit closer to the garment and have silver tipped claws. Closed back is gold and the extended pin is silver. Safety clasp assembly is a later addition.
This tiny piece is gorgeous and can be worn in place of a button on a blouse or at the back of the neck on something sexier. Would also make a beautiful statement combined with other miniatures!
CONDITION: In overall very fine antique condition with a few expected historic nibbles on some of the smaller stones. These foil backed Garnets produce a lovely play of color as their facets catch onto any angle of light! 19th Century. Origin is unknown.
