A set of 4 hand wrought sterling knife rests in the form of Dachshunds stand 1 inch high X 3.5 long and .75 inch wide and are perfect knife rests.
In the Art Deco period, style never took a back seat - but in a much less formal setting than in the prior Edwardian/Belle Epoque era. Useless, if beautiful clutter gave way to function now, in a playful way - and the operative word for all things functional was - fun! These quirky and expressive pups are just that. I've seen many less detailed rests in the animal form constructed of base metals or silver plate, but for the well heeled table --- only a few zoomorphic rests in sterling.
CONDITION: In overall excellent near antique condition with no damage and only the expected historic wear to note. All the pups stand solidly, ready to house your knives or chop sticks! Markings: 925. Art Deco, Circa 1920's, origin is unknown.
Our fine sterling pieces are always beautifully presented and shipped at no charge to our clients.
