Victorian Hair Brooch, Circa 1881
Fine Victorian Hair Art depicts the Prince of Wales feathers in two colors with fine wisps of gold wheat in this large brooch with space behind for a photograph.
This is likely a sentimental piece because of the motif, the large size and the fact that there is a full size space on reverse for a photograph, whereas mourning pieces are usually much smaller with only a tiny space for a memento.
The art is displayed in an ornate gold filled swivel mount. The original broaching assembly is still fully functional and has an extended stick pin. Both sides of the brooch are behind glass. The finished piece measures 2.5" high X 2.25" wide.
CONDITION: In overall excellent antique condition with no damage to note. No exterior markings. Interior was marked for date as indicated above.
A lovely addition to any collection of hair art jewelry, and of course it is very wearable.
Gender: Female, Age Group: Adult, Color: Gold Filled Mount, Size: 2.5 X 2.25 inches
