A large and impressive 19th Century Art Nouveau lavaliere is set with Amethysts and tiny natural gulf pearls.
This beautiful piece was constructed in 3 parts to form an elaborate whiplash form top set with an emerald cut Amethyst followed by articulated drops. The first is a long drop designed to represent a vine set with pearl in the buds. The lavaliere is finished with the smaller round Amethyst. Both gemstones are collet set measuring 6mm x 8mm and 5mm x 6mm respectively. There are 29 natural Pearls.
The chain which appears original to the piece is an unusually long 19 inches and set 1.25 inch (The spring ring on the chain is a later replacement.)
The pendant measures 1.5 inches wide X 2.5 inches long so, while typically delicate, it does make a statement.
CONDITION: In overall very fine antique condition with no breaks, losses or replacements to note (except for the spring ring on the chain.) Test to 15K with a lovely, earned patina. Origin is unknown.
Our fine gold jewelry is always beautifully presented and shipped at no charge to our clients.
Not one of the machine made lavalieres that were created for the masses. It is beautifully hand crafted construction and a very rich and elegant piece.
