A well carved depiction of Diana dates to the early part of the 19th century.
Measuring 1.75" x 1.25" the Cameo is framed appropriately in a simple and understated 10K mount. A later broaching assembly in steel is a late century replacement featuring an early safety lever lock.
CONDITION: In overall excellent antique condition with no worn down areas. Very slight growth lines to the right lower mid portion does not detract. The shell itself offers a shear background in subtle shades of greens to tan with white right facing portrait exquisitely carved in good medium deep dimension. Mount is unmarked and tests to 9-10K variable. Origin is unknown.
