A stunning purse from the mid 19th century is hand crafted in tiny steel cut beads.
The pattern is gorgeous in striking but simple coloration of bittersweet blackened chocolate, caramel and iridescent silver-taupe beads. The purse measures a lovely 7"w x 8" long (11" finished to the bottom of the fringe.) A matching beaded tape is woven in draw string form to complete the miser's pouch leaving carrying straps of 8" long from the top of the bag. Unlined.
CONDITION: Very fine antique condition with no losses to note. The fringe appears to be fully intact but there is 1 loose thread I've tried to show in the photographs. in deliberately staggered lengths. Circa 1850-1860, France.
