Circa 1900 sterling silver sword pin or brooch with Cairngorm stone and Birmingham Hallmarks signed F.N.
F.N. was first registered in 1898 and was the makers mark for F. Narborough. The sword has the Birmingham hallmarks of an Anchor and Lion with a date letter which may be a stylized 'e'. The Lion is the standard mark for .925 sterling silver and the Anchor is the City mark for Birmingham.
The sword pin or brooch has a prong set 9mm Cairngorm stone and is 2" long with a lovely old patina and weighs 6.14 grams. The hilt is 3/4" wide with a leaf engraved guard, ribbed grip, and round pommel with engraved circles. F.N and the Birmingham hallmarks and date letter are stamped on the back of the sword blade. There is a simple C closure on the brooch.
The date letter is hard to decipher but probably dates from around late 1890's to early 1900's.
This lovely old vintage sword pin is in wonderful condition and can be worn as a brooch or kilt pin.
