Gold Filled curb link pocket watch chain with two swivel catches and is signed P.W. E & Co.
The P.W. Ellis company started the business in Toronto, Canada from 1872 to 1915 when they merged with Ryrie jewellers. The Ellis and Ryrie firm were eventually bought by Henry Birks jewellery company in the late 1920's. P.W. Ellis & Co manufactured watch chains and jewelry and sold a variety of high end watches.
The pocket watch curb link chain measures 12-1/2" long by 3/16" wide and weighs 14.8 grams with a large swivel catch at one end and a smaller swivel catch on the other end. P.W. E & Co is marked on the large swivel catch.
This c.1900 watch chain is in very good condition for it's age with very little surface loss and would be a wonderful addition to your vintage jewelry collection.
