Music Box With Art Nouveau Lady Plays "Always". Irving Berlin wrote "Always" in 1925, as a wedding gift for his wife Ellin McKay, whom he married in 1926, and to whom he presented the substantial royalties. The box plays well, has the little "stop" wire that when the box is placed down the music stops. The metal lady is very Nouveau and typical of that period, she is glued to the base (it is original) with a bit of residue that was probably done by someone when she loosened a bit. The box is 9 1/2" tall, shows small wear for it's age, bottom has a small split in the wood..
