Early Felt Dog, nice clean condition, probably for Vanderbilt College. Even though the dog was probably not their mascot they manufactured dogs for many different colleges. This company was a big part of the war effort, you can view their history on the internet, pretty interesting. This is a snippet I put up from a newspaper article I found:The manufacturing company started in the early 1900s and produced collegiate merchandise for universities across the country. One piece the group became well-known for was the Personality Pet, a stuffed animal featuring the logo or lettering of a college. The company eventually contributed to the war effort during World War II, and won The President’s “E” Award, which recognizes organizations that contribute to an increase in United States exports. While some branches of the company are still in operation, the majority closed down in the late 1980s.
