Globe de Mariee or Marriage Display, fabulous piece, large at 13 1/2" tall and 13" wide at the base. There are mirrors, birds and flower ormolu and a worn velvet cushion with one hole. The glass is no longer with the piece .Each mirror and shape has a message to tell.
The number of small diamond-shaped mirrors represented the number of children the couple hoped for. Each symbol had meaning:
