In the 1950's my aunt worked in a Chinese Import shop in Alberta. The shop brought furniture, fabrics and jewelry from the Far East to be purchased by middle class caucasians. At that time China, a third world county was producing items for export but now in the 21 century and with the Chinese wealth increasing many successful Chinese are buying back these pieces. This is a fabulous necklace from the 1960's made of hand carved Cinnabar beads. The cloisonne pressure clasp is embellished with a large pink water lily floating on a blue ,blue pond. The necklace measures 23 inches in length, these is a small gap in the stringing but this just shows the piece is an older example of Vermillion cinnabar. The beads are in wonderful condition and the clasp works perfectly. This is a lovely example of mid century Chinese art. I price realistically but will consider offers,.
