Can you tell that I love these beautifully handcrafted and colorful Tibetan beads? The gorgeous Lapis Lazuli and Coral inlaid brass beads are hand made by Tibetan artisans living in exile in Nepal. The traditional techniques used by these talented artisans are handed down from generation to generation. Because each bead is hand made, there are slight variations and imperfections in each bead, all of which make them so much more special! These Tibetan beads are combined with faceted rounds of dark blue Lapis Lazuli beads of varying sizes. Gold-plated rondelles with a lotus flower on the sides, round gold-plated Pyrite beads and brass spacer beads are used to separate and highlight each bead. At the round toggle hangs 2 charms, a trio of natural red Coral beads, a carved Lapis bead and a golden elephant charm.
Lapis lazuli gets its name from the Latin and Persian (Iranian) words for ‘blue stone’. The color of this gemstone ranges from light blue to deep royal blue. The darker the blue the more valuable the gemstone. It is characterized by glittering specks of golden pyrite and imitation Lapis lazuli lacks the pyrite specks. This stone was associated by ancient Egyptians with deity and royalty, and also motherhood. It is thought to bring peace and cure depression. The best quality Lapis lazuli comes from Afghanistan, where it has been mined for centuries. It is also found in Russia and Colorado, USA.
Coral beads have played a significant part in jewelry throughout history. Red Coral jewelry evokes love and passion, increase your confidence and energy. People of many cultures thought that red coral provided protection from fire and violence.
