Lapis Lazuli is my favorite gemstone! These small bicone beads of dark blue Lapis Lazuli have been precisely micro-faceted to make them twinkle and sparkle! I have created a lightweight earring made of three interlocking rings, each one bigger than the one before to highlight these beautiful beads. The rings dangle from sterling silver ear wires. A fun pair of 'wear all the time' earrings!

Lapis lazuli gets its name from the Latin and Persian (Iranian) words for ‘blue stone’. The color of this gemstone ranges from light blue to deep royal blue. The darker the blue the more valuable the gemstone. It is characterized by glittering specks of golden pyrite and imitation Lapis lazuli lacks the pyrite specks. This stone was associated by ancient Egyptians with deity and royalty, and also motherhood. It is thought to bring peace and cure depression. The best quality Lapis lazuli comes from Afghanistan, where it has been mined for centuries. It is also found in Russia and Colorado, USA.
