The beads used to make this stretch bracelet are spectacular! I have chosen faceted glowing Tiger Eye beads in golden yellow, deep blue and brick red combined them with three lead-free, USA made, gold-plated Pewter beads. The Pewter beads have a celtic pattern on them.
Tiger Eye is an iron bearing Quartz. The quartz is in a fibrous formation creating parallel lines within the gemstone. Light shining on the stone seems to move across the surface of the stone, a phenomenon known as 'Chatoyancy' coming from the French word for cat. The pictures do not capture this wonderful display but it is characteristic of this gemstone. The stone was thought in ancient times to bring good fortune and protection from the 'Evil Eye'. Roman soldiers were known to wear Tiger Eye to battle for protection. It is the gemstone for the 9th wedding anniversary. The presence of Iron Oxide determines the intensity of the golden color of the Tiger Eye. The lack of very little levels of iron oxide produces Blue Tiger Eye, which is also known as Hawks Eye, and is less common than Tiger Eye
