The spooky season and the 'day of the dead' will soon be with us and to celebrate it's arrival I made these fun earrings. A pair of Magnesite (Howlite) butterflies in its natural white color and a pair of lime green Czech glass Sugar Skull beads with black markings. Both pairs of beads have the markings on both side of the beads. A little red coral coin bead forms the head of the butterfly. They all dangle from tear-drop shaped silver-filled ear wires.
Howlite is named after its discoverer, a Nova Scotian geologist Henry How. It is a soft white opaque semi precious gemstone with characteristic gray/black web-like streaks interlaced through the stone. Vast deposits are found in California. It is a soft stone and rough handling should be avoided. Natural healers associate Howlite with an appreciation of all things beautiful and decent in this world. They also think it helps those who procrastinate.
Length: 2.75 inches from your piercing.
Bead size: 25 x 35 mm butterfly; 16 x 20 mm skull bead.
Silver filled products are comprised of 10% silver, the silver is mechanically bonded to a brass core for a sturdy structure and is resistant to tarnishing. All ear wires from Sundancegems come with a clear medical grade PVC ear clutch or stopper. These fit snug on the ear wire, and prevent you from loosing your earrings. They will not tarnish silver.
Care: Clean with soft fabric, or non-abrasive polishing cloth. Avoid direct contact with perfumes, hairspray, and deodorants. Jewelry should be worn after application of cosmetics. Store wrapped in soft fabric or sealed in plastic bag.
