I have chosen two striking Wild Horse Picture Jasper beads to create this pair of earrings. The markings on the beads are so vivid exactly like a desert landscape. The tan and brown patches paint a picture of the barren earth against a blue sky. The larger faceted bead is crowned with a tiny bead cap and a smaller faceted bead. From this pair of beads hangs a 'lucky' horse shoe charm! The charm is made in the USA and is gold-plated lead-free Pewter. All of this dangles from 14K gold-fill earwires.
Jaspers have been used as ornamental and gemstones from ancient times. They are microcrystalline Quartz in association with a variety of other minerals which give the Jaspers colorful patterns and bands. Jaspers are often named according to its color or patterns. Jaspers are considered to be 'grounding' gemstones. Picture Jasper is so named because of the unique banding and flow patterns caused by petrified mud and silicates, which show like landscapes or pictures on cut and polished stones. Picture Jasper comes in earthy tones of tan, brown, blue and black. Wild Horse Picture Jasper comes from Oregon, USA.
