A simple, yet striking necklace. I have used a strand of beautiful peacock-green cultured freshwater Pearls, and interspersed among it these lovely faceted coins of purple Amethyst. A touch of glamour for evening wear and holiday parties. A pair of matching earrings completes the set.

Amethyst is the birthstone for February and Wednesday's stone. Purple Amethyst worn as jewelry keeps the wearer calm, sober and stable, also helping to alleviate anxiety. Europeans consider Amethyst to signify faithful lovers and is a favorite gift to a loved one on St. Valentine's Day.

Pearls are thought to represent innocence and integrity. A favorite with brides. It is the birthstone for June. Cultured Pearls are formed in both marine and freshwater bivalve mollusks (oysters, mussels, etc.) when irritating ‘foreign’ substances become trapped within the folds of the bivalve’s mantle. Not all such ‘pearls’ can be used for jewelry. Natural pearls are formed without any human intervention and are quite rare and hence very valuable. Cultured pearls are mass-produced in a ‘pearl farm’ where humans introduce the irritating substance into the mollusks to create the pearl. Most freshwater pearls are cultured pearls formed within mussels.

14K Gold-Filled (14K GF) beads are made by bonding a layer of 14K gold with high pressure and heat to base metal and then shaped as desired. Industry standard requires that the quantity of gold be at least 1/20th of the total weight and the Karat measurement must be marked.
