These gorgeous blue and gold beads of Pietersite and two round vintage brushed brass have been crafted into a stretch bracelet, perfect for both a man or a woman.
Pietersite is named after its discoverer Sid Pieters who found the gemstone in Namibia, Africa. Pietersite is a mix of blue and yellow Tiger Eye. It has value since its sources are limited, mined only in Namibia and a single mine in China. Since it is a mix of two varieties of Tiger Eye, it carries with it all the qualities attributed to Tiger Eye. Tiger Eye is an iron bearing Quartz. The quartz is in a fibrous formation creating parallel lines within the gemstone. Light shining on the stone seems to move across the surface of the stone, a phenomenon known as 'Chatoyancy' coming from the French word for cat. The pictures do not capture this wonderful display but it is characteristic of this gemstone. The stone was thought in ancient times to bring good fortune and protection from the 'Evil Eye'. Roman soldiers were known to wear Tiger Eye to battle for protection. It is the gemstone for the 9th wedding anniversary. The presence of Iron Oxide determines the intensity of the golden color of the Tiger Eye. The lack of very little levels of iron oxide produces Blue Tiger Eye, which is also known as Hawks Eye, and is less common than Tiger Eye.
