A beautiful pair of light blue earrings. Teardrop shaped drops of blue Turquoise are encased in gold vermeil and dangle from simple 14K gold-fill earwires. Perfect for Spring, yet great for all seasons! The makings seen on the faceted surface are part of the gemstone.
Turquoise is associated with gods and goddesses of many ancient cultures from China, the Middle East, and the Americas. It was worn by Pharoahs and Aztec Kings. Native Americans used the stone symbolizing the sea and sky coming together, to bless warriors and hunters. Turquoise is thought to attract prosperity and success, enhance creativity and communication. Turquoise is the alternate birthstone for December. Almost all turquoise has been treated with a transparent resin in order to stabilize it, as it is a fragile stone in an untreated state.
14k Gold-Filled (14karat GF) findings are made by bonding a layer of 14K gold with high pressure and heat to base metal and then shaped as desired. Industry standard requires that the quantity of gold be at least 1/20th of the total weight and the Karat measurement must be marked.
Vermeil is sterling silver heavily electroplated with 22K gold.
Length: 1 and 1/4 inch from your piercing.
Bead size: 16 x 16 mm tear drop.
