Exquisite Victorian Antique Black Silk Bed or Dressing Jacket Peignoir. Features a striking double layered large ruffled collar, bell sleeves and cut for bustle clearance in back. The jacket is unlined and constructed from a crisp shiny silk that I believe would be considered a taffeta. Closes in front with single hook, the button in front is just a decoration, and there are button size covered lead weights inside around the bottom.
Condition is VG+ with only a few small flaws to note. These include a pair of two small holes, probably from jewelry, high up near the lapel and two small but repairable tears, one at an underarm and the other close by in front which can be seen in the last picture. Other than these minor imperfections it is in amazing condition, completely sturdy with the fabric having a bright, fresh and clean lightly worn crispness.
An ample size with app. measurements of: Bust-40, Waist-40, Overall length from back of neck to bottom of hem-36.
