Distinguished 1947 vintage double breasted tuxedo suit with elegant large peaked lapels. The 5 inch wide lapels are grosgrain while the main fabric is a fine light weight wool that is partially lined with a soft rich satin. The shoulders have small pads and the pants are unlined with a zipper fly. There is a store label inside that reads, “Richman Brothers, Super Quality” and a pocket tag marked Oct 29 1947. (but no size tag)
Condition is VG/EX used vintage with only several small pretty much unnoticeable moth nibbles keeping it from perfect. The pants have five or six small nibbles close together in front of a pocket but you don’t notice them unless you are looking for them plus they are covered by the jacket. Overall it is a fresh clean suit having been dry cleaned before being put away for long term storage the last time. It has come out of storage crisp, clean and very wearable, even the inside underarms are stain free.
Outside dimensions of the jacket while lying flat are: 22 inches arm pit seam to arm pit seam straight across, app. 40 inch chest, 20.5 inches seam to seam across the shoulders and 27 inch sleeves (from the upper shoulder seam to the bottom cuff edge), 33 inches from back neck seam to bottom of hem. Please take these measurements and compare them to a jacket that fits you well to see if this is a good size for you.
The pants have a 32 inch waist with about 6 inches available to let out, the overall length is 48 inches and the in seam is 35 inches.
