Impressive Vintage 1930s-40s black wool men’s matador bolero suit. Such a fun and unique find this suit was! It is constructed from wool tuxedo material with wonderful pinkish peach satin pant inserts and sleeve caps. It has flashy gold cord trim highlights throughout and gold fringe decorates the sleeve caps. Inside label reads, “Londontown specially designed for Chaix Co, St Paul”.
Condition is VG+ used vintage with no significant issues to report, the tuxedo fabric remains clean and crisp with no stains, repairs or edge wear. Just the slightest wear on the white lining under the arms and only one tiny moth hole in the back of the bolero and one a bit larger in the front of the pants for flaws to mention. Overall, it’s crisp and fresh inside and out and even though I have not had it cleaned it is in very clean wearable condition as is.
No size tag but outside dimensions of the bolero jacket while lying flat are: 19" from arm pit to arm pit straight across (a size 36 I believe), 17" seam to seam across the shoulders and 27" sleeves (from the upper shoulder seam to the bottom cuff edge), 18" from the back neck line to the bottom of hem. Please take these measurements and compare them to a jacket that fits you well to see if this is a good size for you.
The pants have an app. 32 inch waist with 2.5 inches available to let out, overall length is 43 inches and the in-seam measures 32 inches.
