Antique 1879 Victorian men’s white and gray brocade vest or shirtwaist. The fabric has a fine corded texture with little brocade geometric shapes. It closes in front with 5 removable buttons (none are included) and there are four pockets in front. The lining and back are a soft white cotton and the buckle in back is marked “Patd. 1879".
Condition is GD/VG used vintage with no structural flaws or wear damage but it is a little dingy as I have not cleaned it and it shows some long term storage dirtiness with several spots on the front needing cleaning. No holes, tears or repairs and in overall sturdy wearable condition.
Outside dimensions while lying flat are: 20" from arm pit seam to arm pit seam straight across, 38+" at the waist, 16" across the shoulders and 24" overall length (from top of back collar to the bottom of front peaks.).
