This set of solid mahogany dining chairs is often referred to as shield backs due to their shapes. The set is of exceptional quality. The style is referred to as Federal or Hepplewhite. Notice the finely carved Prince of Wales feather décor and carved swags and drapes along their backs. There are stylized floral carvings along the bottom of the shield back and on the arms. The carvings are deep and well defined. The seats have a serpentine shaped front. The light beige covered fabric is in very good condition with only minimal wear. The chairs rest on slender tapered legs. The set of 6 consists of 2 armchairs measuring 38” tall, 22” wide and 21” deep. The 4 side chairs measure 38” tall, 24” wide and 21” deep. All the frames are tight and free of breaks or repairs. Their finish is all in excellent condition. Condition: Excellent, Circa: 1970's.
