This wonderful early solid cherry & maple chest of drawers is from the Federal period. The style is classic Sheraton. The single board top has an old very tight crack which is extremely common in chests of this period. The crack is only visible upon close examination. The four hand dovetailed drawers graduate in size or depth. All have brass pulls which are later appropriate replacements. All maintain their original working locks except the second drawer. All have their original key escutcheon. The dresser rests on tall, slender, turned legs. The finish is in excellent condition having a desirable patina and warm color. The slight color contrast between the cherry and the maple is extremely appealing. 41.5"h X 43"w X 21"d, Condition: Excellent, Circa: 1820.
