This wood and cast iron stand is designed to hold books, including bibles and dictionaries. The stand adjusts in some unique ways. The 2 wooden back plates have a ledge and hold the opened book. The cast iron frame has a large set screw to adjust at any angle for viewing the page. The wooden back plates can also be adjusted in width to accommodate both small and large size books. In addition, the iron mechanism is designed to counterbalance when one side of a large book is heavier than the other side which makes viewing and reading so much easier! Notice the decorative book holder below. The stand rests on 4 curvaceous iron legs with moveable casters. The stand is designed to come apart for easy transport and shipping. Look closely at the right wooden back plate. There is an older repair exposing square nuts with screws. What a cool stand to display your favorite folio books, family bible or historic dictionary. 44"h X 18"-23"w X 18"d, Condition: Very Good to Excellent, Circa: 1900.
