Check out this incredible Victorian lady’s cylinder roll desk! It is from the Renaissance Revival period and is of superb quality. The desk has extensive use of burled walnut – a true indication of quality. Notice the shapely crest with the inset panel using pietra dura or some precious stones to create a delicate floral design – a real rarity. The desk is accented with ebonized trim. The cylinder shaped front rolls back to display a beautiful interior. There is a felt lined writing surface that pulls forward for additional room and access. The interior has 2 small drawers and 5 cubbies for filing and storage. The cylinder roll retains its original working lock and key. Below is a hand dovetailed drawer also retaining its original working lock. Look closely and you will see slight damage to the round key escutcheon which is typical and barely noticeable. The desk has boldly turned legs and an elegant stretcher system. Now for the coupe de gras, there is an ingenious small hidden secret drawer located in the back left side of the desk which is accessed by a push button in the back – so cool! The finish is original and in excellent condition. What a beauty this is! 48"h X 35"w X 21"d, Condition: Excellent, Circa: 1870's.
