This custom built solid mahogany stand is a classic example of Chippendale Centennial furniture. In 1876 we were celebrating the 100th anniversary of our nation and emphasizing and appreciating the earlier furniture styles. As a result, Centennial furniture concentrated on Chippendale, Queen Anne and Federal styles executed in careful detail and craftsmanship. The stand has a gadrooned or rope carved edge with delicate quarter columns in the front corners. There are two hand dovetailed drawers over 2 doors. The drawers have their original cast brass hardware with working lock and key. The doors have their original hardware and lock as well. Each recessed paneled door has a carved fan resting atop a deeply carved shell design. Below is additional gadroon carving along the front and side. The cabinet rests on boldly carved ball & claw feet with carved shells on their knees. The stand retains its original finish which is in excellent condition having a deep rich color and very desirable patina. 29"h X 21"w X 16"d, Condition: Excellent, Circa: 1870's.
