This solid walnut 2 door bookcase is in the late Victorian Eastlake style. Previous owners added a mirror to the back and used it to display their collections. The mirror back can be easily removed if requested. The bookcase has a raised burled walnut panel above the door with an intricately carved stylized design. Notice the carved, turned and burled walnut column on the front corners. Each door retains its original glass, working lock and hardware. There is also a key. Inside each door are 3 adjustable shelves. The base consists of 2 drawers with burled walnut fronts and their original brass pulls and working locks. The sides of the bookcase have recessed panels as well. Look closely at the area above the left drawer. There is a 2 inch chip of wood missing at the corner. This does not detract from its aesthetics or functionality and is to be expected due to age and use. The finish appears original and is in excellent condition having a desirable color and patina. 65"h X 53"w X 17"d, Condition: Excellent, Circa: 1870-1880's.
