This solid brass student lamp was originally kerosene and later electrified. Student lamps were extremely popular in the late 1800’s and used by homeowners and businesses. Double arm lamps are harder to find than single arm ones. The center cylinder originally held lamp oil which then dripped into the arms and onto the wicks of each burner. Like all student lamps, the arms adjust up or down which enable the user to have more light dispersed on their table or desk. There is a brass knob which secures the arms. The lamp has 2 milk glass shades that are 10” in diameter and 2 glass chimneys. The lamp has a brass covered iron base which makes it very secure and steady. The brass has an older professional polished finish which is in excellent condition. The shades, chimneys and frame are all in excellent condition. What a handsome addition to your lighting collection. 24"h X 26"w X 10"d, Condition: Excellent, Circa: 1880's.
