This mahogany marble top stand is called a pier table. Its size and design would work well for a variety of purposes, such as a server, hall table or accent piece. The beautifully veined green marble appears to be a later replacement. The base has a lovely ogee molded edge which is supported by 2 finely carved lion faces. Below are delicately carved acanthus leaves and boldly carved paw feet. The legs rest on a shapely platform base or shelf with recessed ball feet. The choice mahogany wood is dynamic on the skirt and base. The detail on the lion is exquisite. The marble is in excellent condition. The table finish is in excellent condition having a very desirable deep, rich color and patina. This will make a statement in any home or office. 34"h X 41"w X 22"d, Condition: Excellent, Circa: 1850's.
