This is not your typical revolving bookcase. We love cherry revolving bookcases. Not only are they unusual, but also practical and way cool! This one is made by the highly respected Danner Manufacturing Company and is dated 1877. The top and bottom shelves have a rope carved edge. The top is supported by 4 turned posts with finely carved elements. The open shelf measures 7” tall. The second and third shelves are divided in quadrants. The second shelf will hold books up to 10” tall by 7” wide. The third or bottom shelf will hold books up to 12” tall by 7” wide. Notice each side having 4 narrow slats attached with fancy cast brass tabs. The bookcase rests on a platform base which uses a heavy duty iron mechanism allowing it to rotate smoothly and effortlessly. The finish appears original and is in excellent condition. 43"h X 21"w X 21"d, Condition: Excellent, Circa: 1870's.
