This sweet sized lady’s inlaid mahogany desk is of exceptional quality. The line inlaid desk top has 2 small drawers below. The delicate looking floral inlaid pattern on the fronts consists of contrasting woods such as maple, walnut and cherry. The drawers retain their original cast brass pulls. Below is a curved drop front panel which is extensively and finely inlaid. The panel drops down to expose a writing surface. The panel retains its original working lock and key. Look very closely and you will see a ¼” loss of wood against the key escutcheon. This is only visible upon very close inspection and does not affect its use or appeal. Check out the heavy duty cast brass hinges inside and the 2 small dovetailed drawers. Notice the 2 pen/pencil wells or holders below the drawers. They actually slide forward to reveal 2 hidden drawers! Below the writing surface is another long drawer with a highly inlaid front with a working lock. The desk rests on tall, slender serpentine shaped legs with delicately carved knees and feet. The desk retains its original finish which is in excellent condition having a rich color and desirable patina. What a cherished statement this will make in any room! 38.5"h X 26"w X 17.5"d, Condition: Excellent, Circa: 1890's.
