This quarter sawn oak gentleman’s chest of drawers or wardrobe is of exceptional quality. Notice the highly figured oak graining of the wood. The pair of recessed paneled doors retains their original working lock and a key. The narrow astragal or molding between the doors has some minor losses near the top and bottom. This is only visible upon close inspection. Inside is a wonderful combination of storage drawers. There are 2 small drawers with their original recessed brass ring pulls. Between them is a narrow slide out shelf with sides and small compartments designed to hold items such as jewelry or watches, etc. Below that is a single slide out shelf for additional storage. Next is a long deep drawer with 3 large separate compartments followed by 5 long drawers. At the bottom is another deep drawer with 3 separate compartments. The chest rests on short brass capped feet. The finish appears original and is in excellent condition. All the drawers and shelves open and close easily. Imagine all the various possibilities for storage this cabinet can provide. 52"h X 36"w X 24"d, Condition: Excellent, Circa: 1890.
