This solid walnut desk is called a partners’ desk. These were originally designed for 2 people to sit across from each other. The desk is in the Empire style having a rope or gadroon carved edge. On each rounded corner is a deeply carved acanthus leaf. Each side has 2 long drawers over 2 smaller drawers. All the hand dovetailed drawers have their working locks and cast brass pulls. The desk top is supported by 4 heavily carved pillars resting on 2 platform bases with additional gadroon carving. The desk has 4 boldly carved paw feet with a carved acanthus leaf. The feet rest on their wooden casters. The finish is in excellent condition having a rich color and patina. What a statement this will make in any home or office! 31"h X 54"w X 33"d, Condition: Excellent, Circa: 1880's.
