This unusual solid oak secretary has a delicately carved pattern. Notice the unusual molding around the 2 glass doors. One door retains its original working lock with key. Behind each door is a single shelf. Below are 2 drawers with leaf carvings and their original working locks. The slant lid has a wonderfully carved shell with its working lock and cast brass key escutcheon. The lid is supported by 2 slide-out supports with brass knobs. Inside are 8 cubbies and 3 small drawers with brass knobs. There is a single long drawer with its original cast brass pulls. The desk rests on tall, slender serpentine shaped legs ending in boldly carved paw feet. Notice the acanthus leaf carvings at the top of the legs. Look closely and you will see some loss on the toes of the back legs. This does not affect its function or aesthetics. The finish is in excellent condition. 63.5"h X 30.5"w X 18"d, Condition: Excellent, Circa: 1890's.
