This large sized miniature child’s stove was made by J&E Stevens Company. The model was called the Rival which is cast into the front of the oven door. These are also often referred to as Salesman samples. The surface is nickel plate over iron. The stove has a warming oven around the chimney with 2 small, sliding doors. The flat cooking surface has 6 round removable plates. To the right is a hot water reservoir with an oblong removable lid. To the left is a decorative shelf with a removable grate which is designed to control the draft. Above is a door which opens and closes exposing the fire box. The larger front door opens and closes as well. There are 7 additional miniature cast iron cooking implements. The stove comes with its original lid lifter, a coal scuttle and shovel, a round frying pan, an oval griddle, a scotch pot and a Dutch oven. All is in excellent condition. There are some light areas of nickel plating loss which is to be expected. The stove is in excellent condition. 14"h X 15"w X 8"d, Condition: Excellent, Circa: 1880's.
