This barrister stacking bookcase was made by Gunn Manufacturing Company, Grand Rapids, MI. This hard to find double wide mahogany model is comprised of 6 separate pieces. Barrister bookcases were originally designed for lawyers and other professionals to store reference books. The bookcase has a cap, 4 stacks and a base. Each stack has a double glass front which lifts and slides back for access. All the original brass pulls are intact. One stack will accommodate books up to 9.5” tall. Two stacks will accommodate books up to 11.5” tall and one up to 13.5” tall. The bookcase retains its original finish which is in excellent condition. 61.5"h X 50.5"w X 14"d, Condition: Excellent, Circa: 1900.
